Purex Crystals - Limited Edition - Review DIY and Giveaway

On the last episode of Purex Crystals, just kidding!

I recently reviewed Purex Crystals and my giveaway was a HUGE success!

I'm back at it again, since I described how much I loved my complimentary sample of Purex Crystals from the Purex Insiders community in my last post, I thought I'd do something a little different, and who doesn't like different, right? RIGHT??!! Yes, I know you all love a little variety, they say it's the spice of life!

Let's get on with it shall we?

DIY - Linen Refresher Pouch

I don't know about you, but I love when I can keep the "just out of the dryer" smell. It's that clean scent you can't normally keep on your clothes. Once you stuff it in the drawers and linen closets they take on other smells and scents. Not bad, but not that fresh detergent/softener smell. Here's where my DIY comes in:

What you'll need -
  • Sewing machine (Now, while you may do this by hand, which is TOTALLY okay, I happen to love to sew on my sewing machine)
  • Fabric (measuring at least 4" long
  • Pins
  • Purex Crystals in-wash fragrance booster (I used Limited Edition Fabulously Fresh)

Step 1 - You can cut your fabric into just about any size, but I recommend that it be at least 4" long. I only say this because, if not, the crystals will come out when you start sewing and removing the pins, anything smaller will be harder to sew. I cut my piece into a 6"x3" rectangle and ironed the edges to get a clean, smooth edge.

Step 2 - I took the absolutely, lovely smelling Purex Crystals Limited Edition Fabulously Fresh and poured a little under half a cap (the cap comes with line indicators, so measuring will be a cinch!) I poured this amount because my little pouch couldn't hold that much! You can add as little or as much as you want.

Step 3 - Now you can tell how much you can get with less than half a cap, but the smell is just a fresh dose of laundry! I lined up the Purex Crystals within my ironed edges.

Step 4 - Fold your fabric in half, make sure you do it slowly as the crystals will shift to the outer edges and spill out!

Step 5 - Pin your fabric in place and remove pins as you sew along the edges.

Step 6 - I did a simple, straight stitch along the outer edges.

Step 7 - Trim any remaining threads and you're done!

You can place these anywhere you like, I had so many fabrics to choose from, but decided to just keep it simple.  What I like about them, is that you can definitely spruce up the pouches, add ribbon, buttons, appliques, I mean the possibilities are endless.  I'm currently working on a project, that includes a laundry gift basket and I'm using different fabrics in the same color and pattern scheme to create pouches.  You can place them in the sock drawers, in the linen closet, inside your hamper so that the smells of dirty clothes don't overpower the laundry room or wherever it is you store your hamper!

I put it in my husbands "overflow" containers, this is where all his t-shirts and summer clothes are stored.

You can use Purex Crystals in so many ways, not only as an in-wash fragrance booster but in many other creative ways!
