Family Road Trips - Nostalgia Waiting to Happen

I used to believe that road trips were just some way our parents tortured my siblings and I.  Why torture? Well, by having to sit together for hours at a time, being dragged out of bed at 5 am, gearing up the car and being told "Pack a bag". I remember thinking, who does this? Who wakes a kid up at 5 am on a Saturday no less, during the first weekend of summer/spring/winter break?

Those days are now gone, and I find that it's my husband and I planning impromptu "family stay-cations" Friday evening, then waking up our own children and having their bags packed ready to go.  I miss those days, I remember my dad working so much that we hardly ever saw him, but you know what I do remember? Our family road trips.

Being the youngest sibling, I distinctly remember being a royal pest.  Begging my sister to sing made up songs, and scolding her if she didn't do them right.  I remember my dad being "lost" and then winding up in these quaint tourist towns and getting out of the car like he had planned it this way all along.

We loved our family vacations so much, that even at 18 (yes, that's me in the 1990's black top) I would go with my parents.  Pictured from L -R Myself, my mom and my nephew, who is now 18, the age I was in this picture.
Taken at Sonoma Train Station - A place we ended up where my dad was not "lost" mmm, hmmm.

This is my husband and my three boys. I took them to that very same area in Sonoma, and they got to ride a miniature train.  I hope they can look back on these memories just as fondly as I will and do.

I remember begging my dad to take me to the Hollywood Wax Museum, he woke me up one morning and said, "Get ready, let's go." And he and I spent the afternoon walking around Hollywood waiting for the Wax Museum to open. The anticipation was too much for a 9 year old to handle, I remember trying to figure out how they made the wax figures and clutching my hands so tight around his that my knuckles turned white as we walked through the HORROR Chambers!!! *shudder*

For me, family vacations are not just memories on a photograph, a still of just ONE moment.  No, for me it's a joyous sense of nostalgia, that years later, builds up inside and the joy it brings, as if it just happened the day before. While my siblings, cousins and I tease each other about being pests, or getting bored, we can all agree that those were some of the best times we ever had.

Zevia Review and Fun Facts!

For the most part, and I'm kind of ashamed to say it...we're soda drinkers, but in this day and age of "clean living" and "clean eating" SODA is a dirty word, right up there with MSG...mmm hmmm, I said it!

But before you get your pitchforks and torches, we drank diet soda *brakes screeching* Ok, ok, we deserve to get torched for that!

I didn't know how much harm artificial sweeteners did to our bodies, and I took it for granted that because it was a "diet" drink, it wasn't as bad as, say, a regular soda laded with mounds of sugar.  But boy, was I wrong, and I'm glad somebody set me straight. Actually, no one set me straight, I just happened upon a FANTASTIC book to rid my body of some unwanted pounds and they highly recommended Zevia.

I knew nothing of Zevia, or where to purchase it.  So like any other person living in this century and decade, I googled it. I found it close-by (SAHHH-WEET) and I went about my way and purchased some.  That was almost 3 years ago and I am so happy that I found it!

Missing Blogger Alert....Where oh where could she be? - Personal Post

Of course, don't be silly...that's not me in the picture, after all..."I" am the missing blogger!

Where have I been? Well, what it all boils down to is lack of enthusiasm, I have over 10 products in my possession to review, and while I still have a strong passion for testing products and reviewing. I have or had a bad case of writers block, or less than stellar blogger posts enthusiasm or as I like to call it SBPE (I don't call it that at all, I'm just kidding *wink, wink, nudge, nudge*)

First and foremost I want to talk about the AWESOME opportunities blogging has brought into my life! The great and wonderful products I have been able to test out that for the most part I probably wouldn't.  I'm a creature of habit, and it wasn't always this way, I was spontaneous and fun. I've just realized that as I've aged, my habits have also become responsible adults. Therefore buying the latest and greatest gadgets or products is not on my high priority agenda....

Darn you adulthood!

I've decided to stop pressuring myself and stop criticizing and counting how many people read a blog post and who has a prettier blog or who has this or that or why didn't I get offered to try this and that.  And while all that may make me sound petty, that's not it at all.  I don't think blogging is a popularity contest and I'm a firm believer in quality over quantity. Which is why I felt that I had to take a step back from blogging to gather my thoughts and get those creative juices flowing.

It doesn't help that my house is in total chaos because I decided it would be a most excellent idea to gut it and do some "Fall Cleaning" the only thing that was falling was me, after I realized I should have just left well enough alone.

But in true "Me" nature, I always have to do things BIG....like the saying goes, go BIG or go home!

So this is my official announcement.  I'm back and better than ever.  I've been up to so much, besides cleaning like a maniac. I started new things, got into some new ventures and I've tested so many products it's going to make your tail spin (I never understood that saying, but trust me, if you had a tail, it would spin!).

Without further ado, I present to you "Word of Mouth...Lend Me Your Ear 2.0" I'm coming back wittier, and even more sarcastic than ever.  It'll be the most fun ever! I promise *shaking head no* Thank you to those who have stuck around and read my blog posts, for those who looked forward to new ones and to anyone else that I might have helped along the way.  Thank you, and I appreciate each and every one of you!

Who knows, I might even do a blog overhaul (and if my husband reads this, he'll probably be thinking, how about you finish with your genius "Fall Cleaning" idea first, hahaha, ahhhh, he's such a kidder) But for now, I will be coming back. You can look forward to regular blog posts starting in November, but for now, let's sit back and enjoy the last couple of days of October.

Calorease Review - Weight Loss

***Disclaimer:  I received this product for free from the sponsor of Moms Meet program, May Media Group LLC, who received it directly from the manufacturer.  As a Moms Meet blogger, I agreed to use this product and post my opinion on my blog.  My opinions do not necessarily reflect the opinions of May Media Group LLC, or the manufacturer of the product.

As a blogger, I am privileged enough to try and experience new products and brands.  I had a great time testing out an all natural weight loss pill, it's called Calorease.

Just the facts:
  • It's easy to use Calorease.  Simply take two tablets with a fat-containing meal three times a day. But stay consistent for the best results.
  • If taken as recommended, results can be seen in about 2-3 weeks. Keep in mind that Calorease is not a license to overeat, nor is it a magic bullet for quick weight loss.
  • There is no program or special diet involved with taking Calorease. A reasonable, balanced and nutritious fat-containing diet is recommended. Click here for sample meal plans.
  • Calorease does not contain gluten, lactose, yeast, wheat, sugar, salt, egg, soy, dairy, artificial colors, sweeteners or preservatives.  It is naturally sourced from grain and is suitable for vegans.
  • A convenient blister pouch provides 1 serving (2 tablets) so it's easy to take on the go. A 90-tablet pack of Calorease retails for $29.99
Did you know?

It's understood that fiber can bind with dietary fat and prevent fat from being digested. But since most fibers bind fat at a 1:1 ratio, you would have to consume unrealistic amounts of ordinary fiber to gain any benefit--until now. The unique, pantented fiber in Calorease (FBCx) binds up to 9 times its weight in dietary fat, reducing up to 15,000 calories per month from a normal diet.
